Paradip Port:

Paradip is a town, a seaport and a notified area committee in Jagatsinghapur District in the Indian state of Orissa. Port of Paradip is the primary seaport in the Indian state of Orissa. Paradip port handled 33,109,000 tonnes of cargo in 2005-2006, out of which 12,529,000 tonnes was thermal coal and 10,273,000 tonnes was iron ore. Located on the Bay of Bengal at latitude 20° 55.44′ N and longitude 86°34.62′ E, it is an artificial harbor which accepts sea traffic via man made lagoons. In the year 2009 the expected population of this town is more than 150,000.



Visakhapatnam Port:

Visakhapatnam is a coastal, port city, often called “The Jewel of the East Coast”, “city of destiny” situated in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, located on the eastern shore of India, nestled among the hills of the Eastern Ghats and facing the Bay of Bengal to the east. It is the administrative headquarters of Visakhapatnam district and is also home of the Eastern Naval Command of the Indian Navy.Visakhapatnam is second largest city in Andhra Pradesh with an area of 550 km². It is primarily an industrial city, apart from being a port city.



Chennai Port:

Chennai Port formerly known as Madras Port is the second largest port of India, behind the Mumbai Port. It is over 125 years old. This was a major travel port before becoming a major container port. It is a substantial reason for the economic growth of Tamil Nadu, especially for the manufacturing boom in South India. Its container traffic crossed 1 million TEUs for the first time in 2008. It is currently ranked the 91st largest container port and is expanding in the coming years. Madras Port, an artificial port more than a century old, located in Chennai (Madras), South India, is one of the major ports on the Coromandel Coast of India



Tuticorin Port:

Tuticorin Port is one of the 12 major ports in India. It was declared to be a major port on 11 July 1974. It is second-largest port in Tamil Nadu and third-largest container terminal in India after Jawaharlal Nehru Port (Mumbai) and Chennai Port. Tuticorin Port is an artificial port. This is the third international port in Tamil Nadu and its second all-weather port. Tuticorin is the only port in South India to provide a direct weekly container service to U.S.A. The transit time to US is 22 days. There are regular weekly direct services to Europe (transit time 17 days), China (transit time 10 days) and Red Sea Ports (transit time 8 days).



Panambur, Mangalore:

Panambur, Mangalore on the west cost of India. It is situated to north of confluence ofGurupura( Phalguni ) river to Arabian sea . The port situated in Panambur is called New Mangalore Port, as there is an old harbour or port located in Mangalore city which is called by Mangalore bunder or Hale bunder. The old harbor is located to south of New Mangalore port. Old port is now being used for fishing and for ferrying small goods.



Mormugao Port:

Mormugao or Marmagao is a city and a municipal council in South Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It is Goa’s main port. Mormugao is located at 15.25°N 73.98°E.It has an average elevation of 2 meters (7 feet). As of 2001 India census, Mormugao had a population of 97,085. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Mormugao has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 70%. In Mormugao, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Ever since it was accorded the status of a Major Port in 1963, the Mormugao port has contributed immensely to growth of maritime trade in India. It is the leading iron ore exporting port of India with an annual throughput of around 27.33 million tones of iron ore traffic.



Mumbai Harbour Port:

Mumbai Harbour or Front Bay is the southern portion of the Ulhas River estuary; the northern (and narrower) part of which is called Thane Creek.Itis home to the Mumbai Port Trust, which lies in the south section of the western edge of the harbor. Front Bay is the official name of the harbour, so named because Bombay started as a tiny settlement facing the harbour. The waterbody behind the original settlement, forming an arc between the [former] islands of Colaba and Bombay island, up to the Malabar Hill promontory or peninsula, was similarly called Back Bay.


Mumbai Port Trust

lies midway (Latitude 18° 56.3′ N, Longitude 72° 45.9′ E) on the West coast of India and has a natural deep-water harbourof 400 km2, protected by mainland of Konkan on its east and the island of Mumbai on its west. It is located on the western shore of Mumbai Harbour, along the eastern edge of Mumbai city. The harbour opens to the Arabian Sea to the south. MbPT handled over 57 million tones of cargo during 2007-2008. Cruise liners visiting Mumbai usually dock at the Ballard Pier of MbPT.



Nhava Sheva Port:

Nhava Sheva is the largest port in India, handling close to 50% of the country’s port traffic. The port was developed to relieve pressure of the portof Bombay (Mumbai) in Bombay proper and was commissioned on May 26, 1989. It has three terminals: JNPCT, NSICT and GTI (Gateway Terminal of India). NSICT is India’s first privately managed container terminal. It is run by Dubai Ports World. Currently it is managed under a Build-Operate-Transfer agreement set up with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT)



Jawaharlal Nehru Port

is a port in Maharashtra, India that borders the Arabian Sea. The sea port is named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The port is run by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, an organization entrusted with the operations of the large shipping port in Navi Mumbai, Indiaand controlled by the Central Government of India. The port lies on the mainland, opposite the city of Mumbai across the Thane Creek. The port was created to augment the shipping capacity in Mumbai and provide an alternative to merchants wanting to save octroi charges imposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. JNPT also has daily ferry service to Gateway of India. The Central Industrial Security Force is the designated security agency for the port. Jawaharlal Nehru Port encompasses an area of 10 km². New terminal access points and connecting roads are proposed but have not yet been constructed.



>Kandla Port:

Kandla is a seaport in Kutch District of Gujarat state in western India. Located on the Gulf of Kutch, it is one of major ports on west coast. Kandlawas constructed in the 1950s as the chief seaport serving western India, after the partition of India from Pakistan left the port of Karachi inPakistan. Kandla is located at 23.03°N 70.22°E. It has an average elevation of 3 metres (9 ft).
